Sharpen Skill Sets with Soccer Rebounder Training

For those days when you can’t rustle up a few friends to have a kick-around with, setting up a soccer rebounder will be the answer. This superb piece of training equipment is specifically designed to help the user speed up training, be it passing practice, free kick training or just some good old target practice.

So what is a soccer rebounder? A soccer rebounder is basically just a regular goal frame with an elastic net stretched over the front, so that the ball will come back to the user. This saves a whole lot of time having to trudge across the field to pick balls out of the back of the net (because of all your shots went in, right!).

These excellent training tools come in a variety of sizes, from big fourteen foot goal frames which are designed to be permanent fixtures, to ones half that size, and even smaller pop up ones which can be taken anywhere.

The bigger ones get you more used to striking the ball at a familiar sized target, while the smaller ones are great for having to produce more accuracy (because the target area is smaller). The materials will vary from aluminum to steel, to plastic so find the one that best fits your usage needs and think about portability as well.

So what can the soccer rebounder do for your soccer skills? Well, it is a device which can used in many different ways, to fine tune a variety of skills. One of the obvious benefits is target practice. Most soccer rebounders will come with a target area in the center of the net, so that you improving shooting accuracy by have something to aim at.

You can of course challenge yourself by taking dead ball free kicks from different angles, allowing you to improve at getting better swerve on the ball so that you can truly bend it like Beckham. Another great use for the soccer rebounder, is to get a little closer into it, and use it for one touch passing.

Hit the ball against the net, and then use your other foot to hit the rebound back, and so on and so forth, improving your footwork, control and balance all at the same time. Getting some practice in with your lesser-used foot will pay off come match day.

Because the soccer rebounder will be able to pass balls back to you, you can also use it as a device for improving control. As the ball will come back at roughly the same pace at which you struck it, you can then focus on controlling the ball with one touch.

This can either be a touch to set it up immediately for another strike, or even trapping the ball dead. These are all crucial skills for getting a better rounded game to take to the field with.

The Franklin Adjustable Rebounder (available in different sizes) is a pretty solid construction steel frame, and has a target zone in the center for you to aim at. It is also adjustable so that you can have the ball return to you in the air or at ground level, which will help train your ball control at different heights.

The Agora Aluminum soccer rebounder is another well-built frame, and is easy to set up and move around so you can take it to practice day. The target patch in this one is also movable. The Regent 3 in 1 Goal Rebounder Target Trainer has the option of a face net with holes to aim at, in the center of the goal and in the corners, again, brilliant for improving accuracy.
